Agent: Julian Friedmann

Biography: Jayne Kirkham is a screenwriter and script consultant with over thirty years’ experience working with and writing for children and young people. She has written for a wide range of formats including animation, live action features, radio, apps, and picture books.

Jayne’s credits include BING AND TEE AND MO and a feature length adaptation of Marina Lewycka’s darkly comic political novel TWO CARAVANS. More recently she has abridged novels and stories for Toniebox and written several episodes of Cartoon Network’s forthcoming series TOAD AND FRIENDS. She is currently working an animated television series called MADDIE + TRIGGS for Turnip + Duck, RTE and the BBC.

Jayne’s original commissions in other media include poetry and short stories for Cbeebies and the interpretations for Blackpool’s new museum of Fun and Entertainment: Showtown, to be opened in 2024.

Jayne was a lecturer at the Northern Film School for fourteen years and served as the Writers' Guild Children's chair.  She is also a member of BAFTA, and is a member of the board for the Children’s Media Foundation.

Jayne’s writing is full of warmth and whimsy and reflects her love of the outdoors, wildlife, and adventure.  She is a UKCC L2 paddle sport coach and was an outdoor activity worker for West Berkshire District Council, Princes Trust and the Scout Association. 2024 is also Jayne’s 6th year as canoe safari warden for the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge. It would have been her 7th but Covid-19 restrictions meant she spent 2020 there as a WellybootLand Warden… well someone had to.
