Tonight's episode of THE GAME written by Debbie O'Malley

Tonight's episode of THE GAME, the BBC 2 Cold War spy drama created by Toby Whithouse (Being Human, Doctor Who) is scripted by Debbie O'Malley (The Guilty, Silk).

The series, which aired on BBC America late last year, counts Tom Hughes, Paul Ritter, Brian Cox and Jessica Hynes among its stars. Critics have praised it for its compelling sense of intrigue, as the series follows an MI5 team as they try to thwart a devastating Soviet plot.

Catch it tonight on BBC 2 at 9pm.

Gaby Chiappe's THEIR FINEST HOUR AND A HALF to star Gemma Arterton, Sam Claflin, Bill Nighy

As we've previously (and delightedly) shared, Lone Scherfig (AN EDUCATION) is attached to direct this feature film scripted by Gaby Chiappe, and the project was selected for the Brit List 2014. Now, we've got yet more exciting news...

The cast for the film has just been announced, and it includes Gemma Arterton (QUANTUM OF SOLACE), Sam Claflin (THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY) and Bill Nighy (THE SECOND BEST MARIGOLD HOTEL).

The film was developed by BBC Films, who are also co-financing (exec producers Christine Langan and Ed Wethered), and it is produced by Oscar-nominated Number 9 Films and Wildgaze Films, led by Stephen Woolley (MADE IN DAGENHAM) and Amanda Posey (BROOKLYN). 

THEIR FINEST HOUR AND A HALF is adapted by Gaby Chiappe from Lissa Evans’s 2009 novel, and is a romantic comedy set in early 1940’s WW2 London.

As Deadline Hollywood puts it, the story is 'imbued with the screwball repartee of classic Hollywood of the time, THEIR FINEST HOUR AND A HALF is a battle of the sexes that follows the misadventures of a British movie crew trying to make a patriotic film to boost morale during the Blitz'.

HanWay will handle worldwide sales, and the principal photography is planned for late summer.

Michael A Walker's episode of CRITICAL airs tonight at 9pm on Sky 1

Groundbreaking medical series CRITICAL debuted on Sky 1 last month, and tonight's episode (Tues 7th April 2015) was written by Michael A. Walker. The series was created by Jed Mercurio (LINE OF DUTY, BODIES, CARDIAC ARREST) and has been hailed as one of the most realistic medical dramas ever made.

Each episode follows one patient's story in the trauma centre, presented in real-time during the hour immediately following their admission. This hour is acknowledged among medical staff as the 'golden hour', a vital time where the trauma team's actions and decisions can determine whether a critically ill patient lives or dies.

In this week's episode, a Mexican woman is brought in after a car crash, but unable to speak English and extremely agitated, she lashes out at anyone and everyone around her. The medics do their best, but it is only when they give her a CTU scan that they realise why she is so upset.

The story:

Tasked with producing an item for a television show about Britain's worst film director, researcher Mia goes in search for the fabled horror film Earworm and its creator. Urban myths surround this little known video nasty, with rumours that cast and crew suffered unexplained accidents during production, its director went into hiding after destroying all known copies of the film, and that its soundtrack is capable of affecting the viewer in sinister ways. Spurred on rather deterred by the myths, Mia seeks out the film's secret, and in doing so, puts herself in danger.

Moomins on the Riviera selected for the New York International Children's Film Festival

The 18th annual New York International Children’s Film Festival has chosen the hand drawn animation feature film Moomins on the Riviera for their official competition selection. The film will screen on Saturday March 14th at 1.30 pm in the School of Visual Arts Theatre in Manhattan. 

The film is based on Tove Jansson’s original comic strips written for London Evening News in 1955. The film premiered in London Film Festival in October 2014 and has been sold to over 40 countries for theatrical distribution. The film was received extremely well in Finland during the autumn 2014, it was just released theatrically in Switzerland, starts next week in France and thereafter  in Japan with 100 copies in both territories. The English are to launch the film in May with 250 copies. 

Leslie Stewart worked on the script for this movie, Hanna Hemila is the producer, co-director and co-writer of the film (Handle Productions). The director of the film is French Xavier Picard, who is also the co-director and one of the writers. Other writers are Annina Enckell and Beata Harju.
